I went to OTGC to ppt an ar pistol. When we got there they said they cannot PPT it because it didn't say pistol on the receiver. They agreed with me that neither I nor any legal obligation to bring in an old DROS to prove it was a pistol. There is no legal requirement for a lower to actually say pistol either. They then tried to insinuate that it was once a rifle and wanted to know the gunshop I got it from. Judging by my irritated tone they stopped asking me questions. Also there is nothing on website or posted anywhere in the shop stating this policy.
I then called Martin B. Redding and they were nice enough to email me the DROS so that I didn't waste 3 hours of my time and $20-$25 in gas.
In hindsight I probably should have called but I've never heard of this bull****. I have never been to OTGC and avoided them after the whole smart gun thing. This place was half way for both of us so I figured why not? Not only will I never give them a penny again, but I felt it was necessary for you to all know before you waste a Saturday afternoon and money.
Thank you again to Martin B. Redding for emailing me my DROS so we didn't have to track down another FFL.
