223 55gr hollow point ammo ?

I didn't think they would expand well, or maybe at all, so do they fly better ? Idk.

What's the point ??

Its not going to expand much if any, and not reliably, its just good cheap plinking ammo

I pickup 5-10 boxes if I see it at Walmart when I go. I don't see much difference between this and any other ammo. but them I
m just plinkin away at steel targets..

I believe the price for the HP and FMJ are the same, so why not?

Cheap price, cheap ammo, and some of it is steel core..... Think about the uses for that........

Probably fragments easier at lower velocities (guess).

Tula/wolf 9mm works great for me and at the price I can't really beat it. I also reuse the boxes when I get loose pack or larger boxed ammo so it fits better in ammo cans. Freedom and American Eagle are huge boxes for their count.

I remember reading about Russia testing hollow points with a large void at the tip that would upset/tumble more in soft tissue. I guess it depends on the weight distribution of the bullet.

Legal to hunt with. FMJ is not.

It could be to lengthen the bullet and get more weight in the back to increase the ballistic coefficient like you see with cartridges advertised as 'open tip match point"

What Tula is steel core? Maybe just the 62gr 5.56 and I doubt even that is.

They did this for their 5.45 ammo. Not HP but there is a void right behind the tip that smashes over upon impact and tumbles the round like crazy inside a body.

Was the commercial Tula FMJ 5.45x39 made this way too though or only the surplus ammo?
