Professor shot and killed on campus

If only we passed a law making all schools into gun-free zones, then things like this could never happen.

Oh, God. First and foremost, my sincerest condolences to his family. All he was doing was being a professor, and nobody short of Osama bin Laden deserves to be murdered in cold blood like that.

      From the article:

Taylor Blue, a freshman at Delta State, said she woke up to a text message saying the school was on lockdown.

"I was scared to death," Blue, 18, told NBC News. She said she thought the campus was safe. "It's such a homey atmosphere, and I never thought this would happen," she said.
Yes, Miss Blue, evil can show its terrible head anywhere. Even in your neighborhood, even in your school. Evil doesn't care about the location. But it sure does seem to care whether or not you can defend yourself.

And THAT is why my Dad carries a gun. Because evil can strike anywhere, and as a good Boy Scout, he believes in, "Being Prepared".

Since we don't know the particulars of this specific shooting, it may be that the professor was taken by surprise and thus had no chance. That is possible. Then again, it's also possible that he *might* have been able to detect his attacker in time, if he'd had a gun, and thus been able to use his gun to save his life. We need to keep up with this story and find out.

Based on reports coming in, it seem pretty likely that the situation involved some (at least perceived) domestic infidelity between the victim and the shooter's significant other.

Should we ban fidelity and loyalty as a way to prevent future incidents like this?
          That said..
My condolences to the family(ies) of the deceased.

maybe; but the only thing for sure is making campuses gun free would prevent this type of thing. Right?

Like a sort of 'gun free zone' by law.

anyway; RIP to the prof. Have no idea of his politics and don't mean any of my snippyness to be directed at him.
