Wal-Mart ceased all CA sales of firearms, due to employee incompetence of following CA and Federal law.

I thought it was the managers incompetence. Managers overlook all firearms sells right?

I remember holding a Bushmaster in my hands at the Miami store back in 1994. Now they just keep to the basic hunting and shooting stuff , ah the good times!

Being an ex-Walmart sporting goods employee, I can tell you that training in regards to firearms and hunting/fishing license sales is piss poor. Also, the entire DROS procedure at Walmart lacked any sort of organization to ensure the forms were actually sent off. It consisted of sticking an envelope (which the employee had to address themselves) w/no stamp into the money collection bag at the end of the night during the register pulls. Also, if the morning employee did a DROS and didn't leave the envelope where the closing employee could see it, it often times wouldn't be sent out. There also was no sort of notification process when the DROS came back. You had to call a manager and hope they knew where to find the info. If they didn't find a "Don't sell to this guy" letter from the DOJ, it meant it was okay to sell it. Nevermind they didn't find ANY letter, good or bad in reference to the DROS, so if the paperwork was never sent, they could have theoritically sold a gun to a convicted felon.

I wouldn't put 100% of the blame on the peon workers making minimum wage, but they definately deserve some of it.

I've been to Nevada's and Virginia's Walmarts recently and they don't have much more than squat for firearms. Mostly duck hunting 12 gauge shotguns with 30 inch barrels and a couple of 10/22's. I don't recall seeing any centerfire rifles and there were no high cap magazines.
