    Bulk Ammo Orders and Packaging?

Have you ordered bulk ammo recently? Were you impressed or disappointed with the manner in which the ammo was packaged?

This year, I've ordered bulk ammo from Midway, PSA, and SurplusAmmo. Midway shipped the ammo in a large box with plenty of packing materials, and the ammo arrived in perfect condition. PSA and SurplusAmmo shipped the ammo in a cardboard box that fit the ammo exactly, without any packing materials. Imho, this is a poor method of packaging, since the courier cannot be expected to deliver packages without them getting knocked around a bit. The PSA shipment arrived in perfect condition through sheer luck, while the SurplusAmmo shipment arrived with a couple of smashed boxes of ammo. The smashed boxes contain rounds with severe setback. Even worse, I emailed SurplusAmmo to notify them of what happened (without any expectation of replacement or refund), and they won't even respond to my emails.

Give SGammo a try. Never had an issue with them.

I suspect that with the "new" dimensional pricing along with weight, you may find goods being shipped in smaller containers. I've seen the change in other items/vendors that are not arms related as well. Less padding, smaller footprint.

As far as PSA, my goods have been okay; never used SurplusAmmo.

      Respectfully

Smaller packaging does make sense from a gas$/efficiency standpoint. However, it is possible to have good packaging even with smaller boxes, just double or triple layer the cardboard box. Adds about 1/4" to each dimension, but the extra layers get smashed instead of the ammo boxes inside.

Freedom Munitions packaging looked like it was put together by drunk 7th graders. I'm OK with a recycled box, but jeeze, use one that fits and fill the voids with some packing material.

Both of my orders arrived with damaged interior box packaging from loose interior packing, with rounds rolling around in the outer box. Not worth sending back since it took just under a month to get the order in the first place.

Update: Heard back from SurplusAmmo. They are willing to replace any damaged items. Nice to hear they've got their customers' backs.

I've bought thousands of rounds in boxes with no separate packaging or at most a second cardboard box.

                    It's not a big deal.

Minuteman Munitions has never failed me. Ordered once from PSA with no issues.

Sorry for your bad shipping experience from Freedom Munitions however in six separate deliveries to me, the boxes were tight and no damage whatsoever. I just don't like the "ammunition" stamp on the exterior box and that their return label reads out as "Freedom Munitions Inc." instead of something like "FMI" which would help in fending off a possible enroute theft.

Ordered from Cabelas and Target Sports USA and had no issues. Original packaging with HM labels attached.

Just received 1200 rounds of 9mm from Cabela's. This is an example of excellent packaging.

I've only order bulk from Freedom Munitions and was surprised that they used the heavy staples to seal the package. A couple of the staples pierced the bullet boxes. Which I would think could be a danger when packaging & during delivery if they get bumped around.
