Wait time on Ordering a firearm?

What would you consider being an unreasonable time from the moment a firearm is special ordered to the time it is being delivered? 1 Months, 2 months, more?

With 100% down payment and it being a month past the original delivery timeframe. the original estimate was a week and a half At what point is appropriate to make a comment to the LGS that ordered it for you?

Obviously back when SSE was ending , I would think something like this may have been a fear of many people ordering. those last minute hard to get items before a deadline.

I don't have a deadline, but I am certainly interested to hear in anyones' experiences to the frustration or the options the LGS gave you to remediate the longer than anticipated order time.

I guess that would depend on what they told you at the time you ordered it. If you were quoted a week and a half and it's now 2 and a half weeks I would be on the phone checking on the status of the order.

I think a lot would depend on communications from the LGS that you ordered from. If he is staying in touch and letting you know of any delays and revised delivery times, I wouldn't sweat it.

On the other hand, being in the dark is not fun.

Depends on what it is and how available it is from the wholesalers.

But YES I would give them a call if it's past when they said.

          handguns one week
          long guns two weeks

If it takes longer than that it was not "in stock" at the supply houses and the shop is waiting for them to come back into stock.
If it was a hard to get gun they are hoping to get one when they do make another run of that model.

That being said if it is a rifle that needs to be two stepped that can add one or two weeks.

it would help if you told us what firearm you orderd as we could tell you if they are "out there"

If he said 1.5 weeks and it is past the LGS owes you revised info.
Meeting agreements is part of Customer Service from a good store.

My only concern is if they knew it was in stock or not when you were told the time frame.
Might have been the last one got sold just before your order was placed, and poop occurs but...
            Communication is good.

            Update requested.

Depends on the firearm. I have waited 8+ months for some McMillan rifles I had ordered.

your LGS should have made sure it was available first. in stock at mfg or a distributor. if not your lucky if you get within a year.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

My last gun took 7 months. Anything special order that ends of not being in-stock at the distributor is going to take a long long long time until that model comes back out in volume from the manufacturer. That appears to take a long time on some guns.

They shouldn't have quoted 2 weeks unless it was already scheduled to be delivered. Otherwise it was never going to happen.

What originally happened was they were working with their distributor, the LGS had it as ordered, but the distributor apparently didn't send it, and then we had to wait a month because they were all allocated. So I was just recently informed that it should arrive either the last part of last week or this week. So Im hoping I will get that fateful call on Friday with good news. If not, Im not sure where I go from here. I made it clear when I ordered in July that I was not looking to buy myself a Christmas present.

I really like this LGS so more than likely Ill just go with the Flow and wait. I just wanted to see if my wait time was outrageous. Hearing that yours took 7 months makes me feel better at the moment, but hopefully though my wait will be way less than that.

During the whole time as passed by ,I have had to reach out, but then again, I realize that if there is no update to report, there probably is nothing worth calling me about. I think I'm just more nervous that it has or will come in and no one has contacted me yet.

                      This ^^^

If the LGS has communicated that the order has been delayed for what seems to be a reasonable reason, I'd be ok with that as well.

My bs meter is running high

                        You can't order "allocated" items

All you can do is tell your sales rep that you need one and have them add you to their list of dealers that want one.

When that "sales rep" gets one and it's that LGS "turn" in line they will get one.

If an item is "allocated" the sales rep have no idea when that item will be in stock again. When they do come in they do not know if they will get one to hand out.

What firearm are you trying to get?
