    Shooting in Oregon

Heading to Oregon next week. Taking the AR and maybe the .45 pistol. Anyone recommend any ranges and shops in or around Medford, Bend and Sisters area?

The range in Central Point is a great place to shoot. There is a Sportsman Guide near there but they continue to disappoint so I don't go there anymore, Black Bird is Ok, I like the little shop between Sportsman's and the range -I can't think of the name but it's the one next to the cannon shop and there is decent surplus shop near all of that. It's a good place for ammo cans etc. All but Black Bird is off of 62. The Walmart there can have a supply of ammo - no 22 that I have found but have tried hard either

An added plus is OR is sales tax free!

Northbound Highway 97 just south of Bend OR, take Baker/Knott Rd offramp, turn right going eastbound on Knott Rd. You will go maybe 2 miles, turn right on China Hat Rd. Proceed about 6-8 miles on China Hat Rd. You will be on BLM land, look for a big red dirt hill about 4-500 yards on left side of road, you can't miss it. There will be a dirt road that will give you access to the shooting area.

My mom lives in Bend and the locals told me about this spot. I was up there in July and shot there. You can set up your targets (whatever you hall in, hall out). You will have about a 50-70 yard range for your AR. I was told about a better area for shooting rifles in that general area. Supposed to be a dirt road you turn left on pryor to the big red dirt hill but I have not been there... yet.

Your title fooled me. Thought there was some kind of mass shooting going on in Oregon.

          Glad there isn't one.

I would highly recommend the range in Grants Pass. You can set targets up at 100-300 and a bunch of steel at 300-600. I was only at the rifle range. They had different areas. Heres the link. Its $7 for the day. Unfortunately they have restricted the long range (300+) due to fire hazard.

Suggestions much appreciated, gents. Chime in as much as you want, I'll probably be traveling around and visiting friends up there for awhile.

Ah, crap! Sorry about that scare title, SonofWWIIDI. Poor thinking (or lack of) on my part.

The COSSA range in Bend is a great range. It's 20 miles east of town I was just there for the 3 gun match.
