Is this a frame? If so what is?

I found this the other day on my job site and was told this was the place to go for identification.

Post a pic from the top looking down inside

It has some hallmark "shape" attributes, but I am thinking not. Yeah, a top down view inside would tell a lot of the story. As it, is it cut through?

I'm going to go with non-gun.
The bolt hole breaking through of the curved cast-in arc is not gun-ish.
When the bolt is in place, if a tube shaped whatever rests there it will rest on the bolt, not the arc.

To me, it looks like half of an old housing for a heavy-duty electrical outdoor switch or plug that may have had a door on it.
