    Pre ban Magazines

Ok will somebody educate me as to what a pre ban Magazine is and what(if any) advantage they carry??
I once pondered over the debate of 9mm vs. .40, then I was introduced to .38 super and 10mm and forgot all about it.

You mean standard & hi cap magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds ? Their advantage is obvious, more rounds in your gun

Preban mag: A standard capacity magazine you owned in CA before the year 2000.

Advantage: it is legal to own, possess (except LA, SF and SV) and use, and holds more than ten rounds - in some case a lot more than ten. However you still cannot use a mag holding more than ten rounds in bullet button equipped firearms.

If you don't know what they are, you probably don't own any so it doesn't matter

And "pre ban" as in you had them in your possession prior to the ban dates. Which is a hard thing to prove/disprove.

So for example, you couldn't have Magpul AR 30rnd mags and claim them "pre ban" since they were not even made then.

The advantage they carry is usually between 2 and 10 rounds.

The legality is problematic because some jurisdictions will confiscate them under nuisance statutes, even if one is not charged with a crime. It's one of those "heads they win, tails you lose" CA gun laws.

As I was cleaning out this trailer (that was found on my property years ago) I found a duffle bag with some old military clothes, a cleaning kit, and a couple unmarked mags that look usable!

Please learn the law. It can be 100% legal to have a 30 round Pmag in CA that is legally considered a pre ban mag. You've been active here far to long to not know this simple fact.

                  Pure FUD...

A preban 30-rng magazine with a dented body can be legally repaired using a P-mag body.

True but I'd save that dented body for when you have to appear in court.

You can use pre 2000 mag in a featureless gun. I've got 4 and put a grip wrap on the AR when I want to use them. I've also use the little wrench for the BB.

Also have 2 15 rounders for my unregistered Glock 19 I bought in 1989.

But you can say you bought them in 2001-2011, well past the 3 year statue of limitation.

I'm waiting for the first 21-30 year old mall ninja to be the test case when popped with a pile of Pmags.

Unless they're caught, importing, selling, or displaying for sale what's the issue? I didn't know possession was illegal. Unless you're a poor soul living in LA or other outright ban city.

There's some FUD floating in the water here.

You'd be surprised how many young folks let their mouths get them in trouble.
