I am just curious as to what people do when they visit the range. I have seen many people shoot a box of 50 and leave within 10min. Ranges charge by the hour but I don't think I have ever seen someone shoot a whole hour all by themselves. I personally shoot a 100 count box of my own reloads in 9mm, .38 or .357, and .40 each at least once a week. If I didn't reload I know I would not even think of shooting 300 rounds of factory ammo a week. So what are you guys doing?

How many rounds do you shoot in a typical range visit?

I have been shooting ~200 rnds everytime I go shoot and sometimes more if I have a rifle/pistol. I do reload to supplement though. If you are comfortable with your skill level then a round count isn't all that matters.NRA Lifer

Depends on the weather, my purpose, and the amount of time I have. Typically, I shoot about 200-300 rounds every time, about twice a month on average. I have gone as high as 1,000 between various guns. But that was a rare (and expensive) day!Comment

I try to limit it to 200 for a typical visit, if I'm there for a half-day or longer, then I'll shoot more. I found that after a certain point my form starts to break down and I get less and less value out of firing off more rounds. I try to make my range time really count.sigpicComment

Not all ranges charge by the hour. For example, my senior membership at Sac Valley lets me shoot all day for $3. For non members I think it's $12.I am just curious as to what people do when they visit the range. I have seen many people shoot a box of 50 and leave within 10min. There it's common for folks to shoot all morning or all afternoon. I don't think I've ever done less than 2 hours. 250 is probably the minimum I've done but I seldom go over 500 rounds.Comment

You can do just 50 rounds per handgun caliber per visit or 20 in .308 and 60 in AR or AK caliber but you need to do it frequently as possible. Once a week if you can or once in 2 weeks.Comment

around 200 rounds once a week.Comment

Before I started reloading I would shoot usually 50-150 rounds total through my handguns, never much of a rifle shooter since I prefer shooting stuff other than paper with them.
Since I started reloading 9mm, .38/.357 and .45 Auto/.45 Auto Rim I've upped my shooting to about 100-300 rounds 'per' handgun now. Then after I get back I get to keep myself preoccupied for awhile and get into a zen centered self and reload.RIP Edrik M Alford 1966-2014.
I love you and miss you pop.
I'll meet you on the range in heaven, keep a bench open for me.
