If someone (and this does happen) asks me questions and wants to hear my perspective because they are on the fence and only hear anti gun propaganda I do my best to educate without forcing things down their throat. I've had some good success in getting our side seen and swaying people away from a lot of the silly anti gun bla bla bla.

If someone (and this too happens) comes out swinging spewing their nonsense as fact I don't even waste my time.

I just show them this gun control study done by Harvard: Would Banning Firearms Reduce Murder and Suicide?

Understand their position from their perspective. Then gently make simple, logical statements that most people will find unrefutable. Then ask if they agree with that statement. Keep building. Don't get mad, don't yell, and don't be surprised if facts make no difference at all.

            I ask things like this;

"So if people constantly speed and run stop signs in your neighbourhood, you're saying the solution is for the government to come and take YOUR car away? That makes perfect sense".

"Your neighbor is fat, so the cops should come and take all the forks from YOUR house?"

What's difficult is that there is no middle ground. Either you believe in the freedom to protect yourself or you don't. Either people kill ir guns kill. In their eyes, they are content, and we need wang extenders.

I have 2 responses to this

                1. 10 round magazine gives you 11 rounds, no difference.

                2. When my dad(who is rabidly anti-gun at times) pulled that exact question while we were at a shooting range my response was to tell him to stand next to the bench behind me near the truck, put on hearing protection and when he heard me stop firing to reload sprint for the truck(also behind the line, I wouldn't have someone do something stupid like run where they might be shot) and stop when I resumed after reloading. He didn't get 3 steps and never brought it up again.

I used the same thing when my uncle(east cost liberal if there ever was one) brought it up after Sandy Hook, he said if there had been magazine limits the kids could have run, same setup except I stopped shooting after 9 rounds then fired again without reloading. After that I reminded him guns can fire without a magazine(which I had told him at the safety briefing but he apparently forgot) so if you run when the magazine is removed you just get shot with the one in the chamber(since that psycho was switching magazines before emptying them). He never had a comeback for that.

It didn't convince either of them, but they generally don't bring up this stuff with me anymore since they have never managed to stump me.

Every time one of my family starts going on about gun control I am right there in their face: "Oh, so you don't like people, eh? You want a society wher the sick, the weak, and the elderly are nothing more than prey items for vicious criminals? What the hell is wrong with you? You want to see Aunt Mary mugged and raped because she can't defend herself - you hate her that much?

Get away from me you sick puke. Come back when you have a little more love for humanity."

Don't argue, don't debate: get right in their face and smear what they believe all over them. They have no problem insulting us so let's take off the gloves when we're dealing with these scum.

Maybe not your car but definitely your license. How many DUIs should people able to get before their license gets suspended indefinitely?

I'm a gun enthusiast but I also agree with some gun laws. If you can't hit something with 10 rounds, you certainly won't hit it with 15. In my opinion unless you're DoD, there's no reason in having 30 round magazines. Is it annoying having a CA bullet button and other restrictions? Absolutely, but it might save some lives when a lunatic decides to go nuts at a mall.

Anyways, there's good points on both sides. No need to knock on people's doors and stick your beliefs on someone else. I've just got on this forum, and most of it is grown men *****ing and moaning about ****. Come on now...

Unfortunately most people that want to talk about guns have already made their minds up one way or the other.

Debating a true anti is just an exercise in futility.

At this point in my life (retired) I have the ability to NOT interact with stupid if I don't want and no one I call a friend is an anti or a Dem.

Comprehension fail! He asked if the government should take YOUR car away because OTHER people were disobeying traffic laws.

As to the rest of your drivel, thanks for outing yourself as an anti-2A plant.

Why in the hell would a lunatic intent on killing people have a bullet button on his gun just because the law says to? For that matter, why would that same looney not have already committed the felony of bringing in illegal 30 round mags, or for that matter buying a gun illegally? I really don't see you point considering the rarity of a legal gun owner ever committing a crime with their gun.

Most people who commit gun crimes are not gun enthusiasts so they will use whatever is available to them at the local gun store. If there's a high cap mag available, they'll use that. If not, they'll use whatever they can get.

Good to know that having a different opinion here classifies you as anti-2A. Thanks for outing yourself as a douche.

and a standard mag release can be bought online or likely in most gun stores for use on featureless.

And for the record, the vast majority of gun crimes are committed by prohibited people who do not legally own a gun. They didn't buy it in a store. Do you really think gang bangers are hanging out in a gun shop? These horrifying mass shootings are exceedingly rare, and the 118 MILLION gun owners who DON'T commit crimes with their guns should not be blamed for that.

By your logic all cars should have breathalyzers equipped to stop drunk driving, as FAR more people are murdered by DUIs than by legally owned firearms.
