Cool find: WWI era mag-$5.

...had to triple check the price- could not believe it. "B" marked 2 tone mag...the San Diego shop did not know what they had or they were just being gracious. It will go well with my WWI era Colt. Feeling a little guilty but...

sometimes it amazes me when a gun store does not know what they have LOL. best score i ever made was a $300 proof marked gen 2 glock 19. all they saw was a used gun, they completely overlooked the proofs.

Yeah these are the deals we all hope for.
I remember awhile back, a guy posted here on the boards that he found an expensive laser boresighter in a thrift store for $1. They had it marked as a laser pointer.

I love getting good scores like that.

My best were probably the $100, mismarked M28/30, as well as the bag of 500 pieces of brand new winchester 30.06 brass for $15.

Thanks guys- you should be proud of me too- this is the first thread I created- it took me a while to figure out how to get it started and post pics from an iPhone- just had to share with the Calguns family. Good shooting and browsing everyone. Thanks again...$300 Glock...laser pointer- too funny.

From the article in the WWII section,

World War II blued (a.k.a. "One-Tone") magazines. Made in large
quantities during WWII by a variety of contractors. Entire magazine body
was blued or parkerized. (Varied from amker to maker and year to year.) To my knowledge, none of the WWII types had lanyard loops.

Prices range from $10 to $50, depending on maker and condition. Here is
partial list of military contractors:

Colt. Can be identified by a small letter C stamped on the top of the
floorplate tab, or "C-S" on the BOTTOM of the floorplate. There is some
debate as to whether or not "C-S" stands for Colt-Scoville, i.e. a
subcontract by Scoville for Colt.

Barnes & Kolbert? There is some debate as to whether or not a B stamped on the top of the floorplate tab stands for "Bridgeport" (and hence Colt) or Barnes & Kolbert Company of New Britain, Conn.

1. Under the WWII section you mentioned, it also mentions, "(a.k.a. "One-Tone") magazines." As I can tell the magazine is two tone.
2. Currently, there is also a person selling a B marked two-tone magazine on ebay as a WW2 mag. The sale is titled, REMINGTON UNITED STATES PROPERTY 1911 TWO-TONE WWII WW2 .45 ACP 7 RD MAGAZINE. This makes me think that you are correct. I wonder what others think after reading the sources we provided. Let us know if you have other information.
