    Recommendation for 2 different shotguns

What shotgun would you recommend for HD and skeet shooting? I currently have a mossberg 500 and don't particularly care for it. It's too long for my taste. But I've heard the bullpup design shotguns like the UTAS 15 have problems? Should I maybe go for a semi auto shotgun?

For skeet shooting I don't care all that much, I just want one that works decently well.

I have a Winchester 1300 Defender for the house...which I think is a very under rated gun, and a CZ O/U for outdoor pursuits.

I don't know if there is a better combo. Maybe an 870 with a short barrel for the house and one with a long barrel for outdoors...streamlines learning.

      What's your budget?

If you're looking for the ultimate, a Benelli M4 would be considered a top of the line combat shotgun. No other shotgun on the market has its fearsome reputation. Designed from ground up for combat, it does not even try to pretend to be a "sporting arm". Its sleek and lethal profile immediately identifies it as a war fighting tool, this is apparent even to people not familiar with firearms. It is also closely related to one of the world's best fighting organization, known to other countries as Uncle Sam's Storm Troopers, aka US Marines. Which gives the Benelli M4 an aura of badassery other shotguns can only dream of.

For clay shooting shotguns, you have a lot of choices. Find one that fits you, in fact, find a few that fits you if possible, then look at the price tag and see if you can afford them. If you have...ahem...a limit budget, avoid brands like Perazzi.

Check the shotgun forum and see if you can find a Skeet clinic close to you, they usually bring out a number of shotguns to help you find one that fits. Worth attending if you've never tried it before.

I'll probably try one of the shotgun courses at Raahague's. I was thinking about the Benelli, but wasn't sure about the cost (I can swing it, just not sure if it's "worth). Sounds like it is though.

Edit: How would I go about attaching a flashlight to the Benelli if I did end up with one? Because that is one feature I require for my HD gun.

          Lots of choices, some examples:

Buy an m4, you wont regret buying it, but you'll definitely regret if you don't. (I do...)

I have the poor man's version, versamax, and I love it but the Benellis are much higher quality, smoother action, better fit/finish... basically I didn't save money because I'll still buy an m4 one day.

I'm not sure I understand. The Mossberg is too long. How long is it? What length barrel does it have? And how does going for a semi auto solve the problem of being too long? The shortest barrel you're going to find on a traditional semi auto is going to be 18 or 18.5 just like a pump gun.

My bad. So a while ago I seriously messed up my left arm. Holding a gun isn't so much a problem, but operating a pump is, especially if I have to stretch out my arm that far. So I either need a shorter shotgun, or a semi auto so that my left arm is just there for stabilizing and not any sort of action.

Some pump shotguns have forearms that are closer to the receiver and don't require you to reach as far but you are probably better served by a semi. Big5 just had what you need on sale last week, it was the ATI combo pack semi with 18.5" and 28" barrels.
