    Magazine spring life: rotating magazines

I'm sure this has been asked or discussed but doing a couple of different searches didn't seem to bring it up.

I'm looking for opinions on the duration of time a pistol magazine can stay loaded for an extended time without sacrificing reliability. I know that we're talking theory here and there are numerous variables so I'm not looking for a actual number but perhaps a guideline in terms of how often magazines should be rotated. What do you do?

The only reason to rotate mags is to prevent bending of the feed lips.

Springs do not cease to function from staying compressed - they take a set by use (compressing then elongating) that will weaken them over time.

Most pistol mags have no issues and are safe indefinitely. I would worry more about the ammo in them and moisture than the mag spring from a loaded mag.

I change defensive loads and test my mags every few months or so (by firing them).

The above is true. Springs wear by compression and expansion. Not compression alone.
