one of you guys can correct me if I'm wrong but I think its okay to have pistol grips and vertical or horizontal forward pistol grips if the rifle is a.22 caliber.

On a .22lr rifle, yes. Simply being .22 caliber(like an AR in 5.56, not without a BB or going featureless), no. "Evil features" simply aren't an issue on a semiauto rimfire rifle. Semiauto rimfire pistols are a different story though.
