Shipping rifle in CA. How to?

Sorry if this has been covered here already. I swear I looked. Not a lot, and I am still a little unclear.
If someone is wanting to purchase a rifle from me, how do I go about shipping it to them? I'm in CA and so are they.

As I understand it they find an FFL near them that will accept a shipment from a private party. Pack it up and ship it via UPS or FedEx directly from me to their FFL with a copy of my DL. If they cannot find one that accepts from me then I must go through a FFL here to ship to their FFL. Is this all correct?

Recommendations on how to handle the funds exchange? Do I figure out what UPS will charge and add it to purchase price? Paypal gift, then on receiving the money ship?

Is there any paperwork that I get to show that I sold the rifle to another party?

Any recommendations would be appreciated, as I have never had to do this before. Thank you.

I would ship via USPS with tracking + insurance. It's generally cheaper and faster.

Verify the FFL using the e-verify system (call them and ask for their number for verification - Send only to that address!!!).Pack it up with a copy of your driver's license (what most FFLs want). Measure and weigh it. An online calculator should give you the shipping charge. Add that price to the sale.

Accept USPS MO only (this protects you and the buyer)! I would not accept paypal or personal checks on a firearms transaction.

If this rifle was bought after 1/1/14, you can then file a form with the CA DOJ that you are no longer in possession and no longer the owner of the rifle.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

What he said - US Postal Service will transport long guns even from non-FFLs, just not handguns.

I am assuming stripped bolt actions can be shipped via USPS as well?

I did a comparison of UPS and USPS just now and it is by far cheaper than UPS.

Click the link - - US Postal regulations re. shipping guns. Note, a private person,(non FFL) can legally ship long guns via the US Postal Service. Usually much cheaper than either FedEx or UPS.
