Man, all this talk of buy backs makes me want to go pick up some half-busted trash guns so I can cash in.

I can't believe they're trying to get a couple hundred guns no one wants "off the streets" in one day, when 1000 are sold in that same time. Nuts!

Saw a few shots on the news too. Did anyone notice the MAK90s, Romanian SARs, Arsenal SA93, M1 Carbine, and the Enfield jungle carbine? The guy w/the Arsenal SA93 got boned as did a lot of other people. GAVE away $500+ rifles for a $100 gift card. The Arsenal will fetch $1000+ on Gunbroker.

Unless they're stolen. In that case, the city of LA just acted as a fence for hot goods.

I heard that they do this for a ballistics matching data base, then if the gun you handed in shows a ballistics match, you get a broken door!

Mosins are $79 so, you could turn a $ 21 profit.

OTD? i dont think so. As for the guns my thinking is oh well. if youre stupid enough to give up your guns for a 100$ gift card thats your problem. Too bad guns go to a foundry and get melted down. I was jsut reading a story in the papers abdout HBPD cleaning out their evidence room. the cop in charge said he was realy really sad to see these pearl handled govt .45s go to the melting pot.

I still can't believe, in this time of huge budget shortfalls, that any city can afford to have a gun buy back. Seems like a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money for a lame feel good "see we got guns off the street" program.

What if some of them are stolen? Do you think they will try to get them back to their real owners?

can you go to buy guns from people for more then the cops are buying them for? I mean a person to person transfer should be legal right? I know there probally wont be any good guns but who knows...

Thanks, It's too far to be worth my while. Last time I tried this, I had about 25 junkers from the shop I worked at, they offered me one $100 card for one gun or 100 and that was it. So, I gave them most of a Glenfield .22 with a cracked action (the guts, mag tube, etc. removed) and got the $100 card to Best Buy. They were out of all the other cards. I won't drive that far for a buy back again unless they can garentee that they'll pay top dollar for my crap!
