Gunsmiths in South Bay?

I'll be picking up my SA XD-9 Tactical on Monday and I am interested in getting night sights put on it in the near future. Does anyone have recommendations for a good gunsmith in the South Bay area (I'm in SJ proper)

I'm also open to places that take mail-order in other parts of CA (e.g. Calgun sponsors)

Any help is much appreciated!

I only know of one, provided he's still there, at Sportsman's Supply. Generally speaking, replacing sights doesn't require a licensed gunsmith. Many gun shops have the tools and the knowledge to do it for you.

This is good to know! Thanks for the clarification on that.

I'll keep the question open, however, so I can get some other names in case I do need a licensed gunsmith in the future (and for posterity/forum search sake).

Be aware XD's are a PITA to change sites on. They are glued or some or attatched in a way that leads to most shops charging more for the service.

CalArmory has experience installing night sights in an XD (they can be a pain). He installed factory sets in a couple of my XD-45s. He's located in the Sacramento area. Send him an email or call ... tell him Corey sent you.

I'll have to check him out - my uncle lives up in Sacramento, so I can always combine a visit with getting the night sights put on.

You're talking about Sam Grove. He's usually there on Thursdays and Saturdays, but I'd call ahead before you go. He's also always very busy, so don't expect to have the job done while you wait.
