    Tales from the Morgue

You might want to check out this thread on the S&W forum.
This guy was a cop and now works in a morgue, he discusses the effects of caliber, bullet, etc. I've only made it through the first 2 pages but his info is a great read.

Interesting link though I've only gotten through second page.

I wonder exactly how trained he is (morgue guy) in balistics and how much he knows about each victim, as far as what their circumstance was when they died. He seems to read a lot into just what bullet is in the body and doesn't mention how close the shooter was or how long the victim was alive after being shot.

He also assumes at one point that a body with more than one type of bullet in them means the shooter loaded different bullets in one mag. I can easily see a scenario where there were two or more shooters aiming at the same person, each person with a different type of bullet in their gun.

It's a very interesting perspective but I'm reminding myself that the poster might have some of the details wrong.

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.

I made that comment about the 9 can go threw bone.He states it would be deflected ,Why do some of you believe these people that state they are so and so, but who knows they can just make this stuff up.

I am not comparing a fire fight with a cow .......just for you too think that is a dumb *** remark...are you just going to shoot someone one time in a fire fight and hope your 45 kills him with one shot. You ever hear of double tap!! The military uses the 9mm beretta 2 shots in the center mass and one in the head . Flame off i don't even own a 9 anymore i have a 1911 .

                      And your point is?
His point is that once in a while he gets to see "side by side" effect of same caliber ammo but different type of bullet in the same body... Who cares if it didn't come from the same pistol?

He dosen't say that 9mm will always be deflected by bone.. He just said he has seen it.. This in know way makes him a fraud...

There is a knowen case of the bill of a BG's hat deflecting a 12g SLUG!!! When it comes to fast moveing objects, odd things can happen...

He also never says to shoot once with a .45 and wait for BG to go down.. He has said that he has seen many one shot stops from the .45.... Who knows why only one shot hit its mark.. Maybe only one shot was fired.. Maybe the shooter missed his follow ups....

The man is not claiming to be a firearms expert.. He is just reporting what he has seen and his ideas of the outcome...
                        1911.....

I thought my point was obvious but I guess not.

The morgue guy is making a judgement about the effectiveness of different bullets, assuming they all came from the same gun. It is a nice senario because you can assume all the bullets came from the same barrel by the same shooter, at the same distance from the target.

But my point is his data could be flawed because he mearly assumes all the bullets are from the same gun. If they are from different guns then his data is flawed/corrupted and he can't make any effective comparison.

Example, a 125 grain FMJ bullet fired from a 5 inch barrel wil act very differently than a 115 JHP fired from a 3.5 inch barrel. Not just because they are different bullets but also because they came out of different barrels.

BTW I finally got through all the pages in that thread. Very interesting reading.
