Riflegear Plano, TX Gun Purchase Question

Sorry if this isn't in the right place. Looking to buy a Springfield XD Tactical from Riflegear. They currently only have some in stock in Plano, TX. Does anyone know if I will be paying double taxes if I order it and get it shipped to my local FFL? I'd like to get it tonight but it's to late to call and ask. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks as always

Wouldn't you just have it shipped to the local RifleGear?

If TX taxes you, no CA tax. If TX doesn't tax you, CA will.

I am unfortunately in Northern Cali and they are in So Cal. Not sure if they would ship from Plano->So Cal->Nor Cal. I assume they would Plano->Nor Cal.

I thought you had to pay CA no matter what....

It is my understanding that because RifleGear has a storefront in California, you'd only have to pay tax once.

An excerpt from BOE to my FFL re: Sales Tax Obligation

"If the out-of-state retailer is engaged in business in California such as having a physical presence or a sales tax representative in this state, you are not considered the retailer, and therefore are not responsible for reporting and paying the sales tax..."

              ^^THIS^^

OP, Riflegear will probably charge you CA sales tax because of their CA presence. Just make sure that your invoice specifies CA sales tax, if they charge it, so you can show it to your FFL. Maybe clear it with your FFL before you order just so that there aren't any surprises when you go to pick up.

There should not be any TX sales tax since you are not physically in TX.

If you buy a firearm online from any state and ship it to a CA dealer, you are required to pay CA sales tax only, and only once. If you ever get charged twice for sales tax then you should provide proof that CA sales tax was already paid and whoever charged you a 2nd time should refund you.
