Trying to identify this S&W barrel (model)

short end of it...found this picture (below) of a unknown model S&W revolver barrel

im interested in trying to find out if the front sight of this revolver will also fit the front sight of my Ruger GP100...I've been looking for a front sight with a factory red ramp tip on it...Ruger doesn't have one for my model (#1715)

when i minimized the photo of the S&W, the two sights looked practically identical in size and very close with the pin punch out location...if i can get this particular barrel or revolver identified, then, i can further research if the front sight is workable too

i know it's a stretch, two different manufacturers, almost anything can be different to make it not fit, but, i'd like to research it anyway...maybe a gunsmith can do something with it if its not exact...sorry if my Ruger blinds you, i've polished it up quite nicely

i have the red paint ready if all else fails lol

    thx

I agree it does look pretty close.

If the barrel is cheap enough why not just get it and see if it fits. If it doesn't fit then see if anything can be done to make it fit. Worst case, nothing can be done and you resell the barrel...or buy an S&W that it fits.

    Good luck.

    Edit:
    Shiny!
    Sorry, not sorry.

      found this on Midway

made for S&W, but says in the Product Information that it will fit any pinned front sight...i'll have to get a gunsmith involved for installing it but im ok with that too...it should increase my sighting in objects much better

well, nice find Canucky...i've been doing searches for over 6 months hoping to find some better front sights available

the 3" doesn't have the standard Ruger front sight like the 4" and up, looks like geminicustoms might have something worth looking into

i don't care what FP says about you, you're all right

I have an old ruger with black on black sights. Thinking of the fiber front as well.
