Why do some ranges have a no headshots rule?

I was at Targetmasters west in milpitas and the person told me no headshots? What is the point of this rule? The target was just a silhouette......

From what I've heard those ranges are afraid of people hitting the clip/rack that holds the target on. I never understood the logic since that's going to happen anyway. Some ranges even sell zombie targets and still don't allow head shots ugh

Maybe because the hangers get shot?

Notice all the bullet holes in the ceiling. Notice all the shot up target hangers. That's why.

When I go to TargetMasters, I ALWAYS make sure to do headshots. I shoot out the eyes, nose, then make a frowny on the target. That way, when the dips*** clerk comes running in to tell me to leave, I show him my target and say "This is how your place makes me feel".

When they say I can't pick up my brass on the way out, I shoot my target in the crotch and say " Now you've really made me sad, and I feel like that".

              TargetMasters sucks.

                First , it is Targetmasters

Second , they have that rule so you don't shoot up the cable and track , I spent many an day/night replacing those damn things because people can't hit what they are aiming at .
To fix them you need to shut down the bay and walk out there. The owner was shot when somebody started shooting while he was in there , at least once that I can remember .

You want to go forward of the shooting line at TargetMasters ? Dangerous enough Behind the line , yet alone in front .

Third , It Is Targetmasters , their house their rules .
Bweise says "I have to say the situation was not at all helped by 22 yr old former Airsoft douches who kept touting here, "But possession is not illegal!" "

Duh.... just bring a piece of cardboard to staple the "zombie" () target onto that will allow the head to hang 6 inches lower from the target rack/clips. I do that with IPSC/IDPA cardboard targets when I am going to practice failure drills at my indoor range. Try and think of "solutions" instead of whining. Are you still thinking of going into the military?

How do you manage to hit the ceiling if you are aiming for the target......

                      1) Morons with finger on trigger before sights on target
                      2) Wimps who break wrist when shooting
                      3) Ricochet / deflection off hanger/clips
                      4) Morons with finger on trigger before sights on target who use a "casting" approach to present the muzzle to the target...

Because too many folks who go to public shooting ranges are lousy shots. It wouldn't happen at all if people took the time and trouble to actually learn to shoot.

And people who have no clue about how to actually shoot and hit a target.

People can learn to shoot and hit their target. Some friends and I put on a monthly NRA Basic Handgun class at Targetmasters, and our students, even those who have never touched a real gun before, can hit the target when we're done.
