Caffine before shooting?

I know that I'm physically addicted to caffeine. If I don't have enough, I start to go through withdrawals including shaking, mood swings and headaches. I don't want anyone to be around firearms if they are going through withdrawals from any chemical dependency.

Does it sharpen skills with a limited amount or throw you off? Is it like Cat Ballou and booze, too little he shook, too much he missed, just the right amount = the best gun in the West?

I find I can't hold crosshairs after a full cup of coffee...Soda caffeine doesn't bother me.

I like coffee before during and after shooting. The only time it is not so good is MOA when 1/4 to 1/2 inch matters. And seriously my eyes are not good enough for 1/4 inch to matter anymore.

The general wisdom is to do no differently than you normally do. If you normally have a cup of coffee in the morning, have a cup of coffee in the morning. If you don't normally drink caffeine, don't go out and drink two monsters before you shoot.

I'm pretty sure there's more caffeine in my body than blood most days. But i don't drink a drop on rifle mornings until i'm done shooting.

I shoot my best when most relaxed. My Sunday routine is make sweet lovein to the wife, skip the coffee, focus on front sight and presssssssssss. BANG!

No caffeine before competition unless i have a really full stomach. It's not good for my sight picture and trigger squeeze.
