PPk problem; advice wanted

I'm wondering if anyone else here has experienced the problem I'm
having with my PPK? The problem is when I insert the magazine, it
stops about a quarter of an inch from going in all the way. I must depress the release button for the magazine to continue, and lock in. The button operates normally otherwise, and is not hanging up, and I can see the mag-catch on the inside working properly when there's no mag hitting it.
This has happened on another PP, ( or PPk? ) that I have.

Empty mag?
Does it work properly with a loaded mag?
Does it work with the slide open? with the slide closed ?

If it hangs up with slide open, look down the ejection port and see where it hangs up.
Any weird long scratches on the side of the mag, caused by a burr?

Might just need some break in time.
