Parts Kits Build for $$$ Is It Illegal

Hi Guys Im fairly new to CG I just have a few Questions ? they may sound stupid but its worth a shot. Is it Illegal to ask for help on CG's to build a parts kits? I recently inherited an Bulgarian AK47 parts kit and two 80 % lowers from my recently deceased Uncle. I need to know if it is illegal to ask fellow Cal Gunner's to build these kits for $$$. In other words I would pay to whoever helps me build these kits. If you know anyone please let me know I live in Ventura County but if it is Illegal im assuming I would have to Sell the kits anyway some knowledge on the situation would be greatly appreciated thanks.

It is not illegal for someone else to build a firearm for you as long as the person is an 07FFL and follows all the laws.

It is illegal to pay for someone to do any gunsmithing or manufacturing if that person does not have the proper licenses.

If you do not want it to be marked and legally transferred to you after it is completed, you are required to do all the work yourself.

An 80% receiver can be built for PERSONAL USE.

Meaning that the guy building the gun is the guy that owns it - otherwise it's illegal.

No, a firearm manufactured for personal use can be sold. It just needs the proper markings and it can not have been manufactured with the intent to sell it.

Easiest thing to do in your situation is try and do it yourself...

Would be better to offer pizza and beer to someone who would come by and talk you through the process.

Did I say the word sell at any point?

The guy who "builds it" is the guy who "owns it". If someone else builds the kit for him, it's illegal.

Read the post before you correct it.

If you have a complete lower, then it is my understanding that a friend can help add parts.... You are not then building a gun - Receiver- just pressing the barrel, pinning.. etc
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

                  I'm dubious.

Chase. To build a firearm you must do the work yourself, with your own tools. Only an licensed FFL can build it for you. It will then be registered with the state and AFAIK you could then pick it up after your 10 day wait and paying your state extortion fees.

This has been discussed at length many times on this forum (and many others). That's why I'm dubious. A quick search on any of the main forums would bring up copious threads that would tell you this. You've been here just shy of 3 years, you should know better.

Perhaps you should ask the agent in the next cubicle about the legalities of hiring someone not licensed to build the gun for you.

This, I don't believe there's a problem with getting help with everything other than the receiver. The receiver itself you need to do yourself.
