Need help/ideas with building my future range gun box

Finally got my multi gun 20 gun (about) travel box project going.
    (41" OAL R700 pictured)

This is a all weather tool box or "Job box" with the dementions of 48x25x24" which will be my replacement and universal range box instead of lugging all 18 rifles to the range and having seperate cases and crap to pack.

Now, I'm left with either going the cheap 2x4 and felt rout... Stands like below but horizontal not vertical.

Or hoping someone here knows a good place to get pelican case type hefty foam, hopefully on the cheap and A LOT of it. Like shown below. But x100

Obviously I would prefer the foam rout, but I'd be out like $300 to $400 for foam to fill and house 3 layers of rifles.

2x4 rout is simple cheap and easy, but when I take my truck off road I don't know how secure it will be. Having my guns flop around and clash together isn't exactly my idea of fun.

So I need build ideas, and leads on foam if anyone has any.

    - It has to be a 3 stack row design
    - Fit roughly:
    2 bolt guns
    2 AR10's
    7 AR15's
    3 AK's
    2 AR pistols
A couple short side by sides and shot guns

maybe a few 22's and a layer of pistols if I have room/cash left over. Obviously fit as much as I can in this thing.

You take 18 guns with you to the range? Do you camp there for a week?! Kudos on your dedication and ambition, I feel like i ate my wheaties if I take more than 2 pistols with me to go shooting! You planning on moving the box loaded or loading empty box then filling after it's already in the truck? Box is gonna be heavy with wood in there, need to tow a forklift to load/ unload that thing! Even without wood it's still going to be heavy and awkward with it's dimensions. I'd definitely go the foam route no matter the cost, your back will thank you! Maybe downsize and rotate what you take each trip and spend more time with what you do take?

Maybe craft/fabric shop for the foam? I used to use some pretty decent egg crate style foam like that while camping for pad under a sleeping bag, maybe a camping store? Cabelas or something similar?

Remember bigger wheels can roll over stuff like rocks more easily. That's all I got

Sometimes we do do multi day camp n shoots, sometimes we do range days with 20+ shooters and me and a few others supply most if not all of the guns.

Other times I like to utilize all my guns and shoot several in a trip. On average I take about 8 guns to the range.

If I feel frogy and bring 15 to shoot to my hearts content, and utilize the 2 hour drive and $20 range fee. Also I have to pack for not only me but my girlfriend and her rifles as well. She has 4 of her own and usually likes to bring 3 of her 4. I don't go out often but when I do I usually go all out.

That said..... Yea it's going to be heavy, but nothing 2 guys and wheel attachment can't fix. Also the box probably won't leave the truck bed and take out the equation of unpacking and repacking 10 gun cases dbring and after the shoot.

Also last time we went out it rained and was muddy, cleaning a wet, water soaked truck with 8 soaking wet gun cases and 12 guns is not fun. That's what lit a fire under my butt to get this going.

Here was one of my AR's after pulling them from the wet cases... No bueno

              Hopefully!

This will take some of the hastle of packing and unpacking all my guns, which was one of my turn offs.

I almost went to the range tonight too... Almost. Lol
