    Best States for Gun Owners...

States were ranked numerically in each of five categories: right-to-carry, right to own "black rifles," presence of the Castle Doctrine, subjects relating to the National Firearms Act (NFA) and a catchall miscellaneous column.

I found this pretty interesting reading, surprised by some of the rankings too. Chime in with your thoughts.

I left CA last year for a job in north Florida and am very happy. Gun shows are frequent and full of goodies unavailable in CA, Concealed Carry permits are easy to get and inexpensive, NFA weapons are available and popular, plus cost of living is low and people feel secure enough to not lock their doors. 30 round mags are as low as $7 and even tracer and APIT ammo are plentiful.

Don't quote me but I heard a story where a guy in AZ got pulled over for speeding with his pickup truck and the officer let him off with a warning. The kicker, he has an AR on his dashboard.

I thought NV. Would be better but still not bad for being two hours from ca. State capital.

Would have thought Texas would have at least been in the top 5. Go figure . . .
I'm "surviving" in CA for the time being, I'm originally from San Antonio and thought exactly the same thing about TEXAS! Having just come back from Dallas a week ago, I'm thinking with the upcoming open carry going into law...it MAY JUST be time to think about moving back to the old stomping ground- well Dallas or Austin, but you get my drift.

They put Oregon ahead of Idaho even though Oregon just passed a law that private party sales have to go through background check. That invalidates pretty much anything they say.

It's also pretty much the same stuff they said in last year's rankings.

That's still 45 better states to live in than CA... can't wait to get out of this place.

They also didn't mention that the 10 day cooling off period in CA is on it's way out....

Washington just did the same thing. It was an initiative though. Very poorly written and convoluted. Had lots of money dumped into its support though so it got passed. I believe it is in court now because it's completely unenforceable.

I do think the ban on machine guns won't be around much longer. SBR's and suppressors are now allowed, but SBS and machine guns aren't. Beyond that, very strong castle doctrine laws and most of the politicians outside of Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia have their heads on straight.
Dear ISIS, Texas is not known for their gun free zones.
