Because people are paying that much, sometimes more. I'm looking for an SKS and I can't find any in my area for under $400.
And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

...which means that the distributors are raising their prices, so the guns cost more to replace at the dealers, so they need to raise their prices to get more stock on hand.

People aren't spending their money gas nowadays so they are driving up the price of firearms by panic buying...

Some lucky Calgunner got a BRAND NEW in the box Saiga 7.62 from the "private sales" thread for $350 not too long ago. Heck, I paid more that that pre-bama.....

You just got to jump on those deals, they are out there, and IMO private sales are just going to get better!

Hang tight, be patient and be ready to POUNCE...

The Saiga prices have skyrocketed from the distributors. I used to get the smaller calibers for like $260, now they are about $360. The .308s used to be about $320 or so. They are now nearing $500. And that is my cost.

Add in the surge and yeah my price is up over $200.

Guns are like Gas, Americans Have to drive to the store down the street. They wont walk.
They have to buy guns like they buy gas, no matter the price until they realize, wait a minute I dont have any more money for gas.

Just look at the history, people get so tunnel vison'ed thinking its going up up up. Well thats what they thought about the housing and now look where it is.
                  Same with gas..

If you believe the FUD scenarios...

The danger with the Saiga is the possibility of a Ban by Executive Order within the first 100 days. Reason being that they are imported firearms.
Domestically produced firearms will be a little tougher, and Barack Hussein Obama will need to go about the traditional means of trying to kill them off.

I picked one up (7.62X39)for 399 last Sat. They are out there but it’s not easy to find them. I thought this was a reasonable price seeing what they have been selling for.

Must you give exact prices from the distributors in each post you find?

I seen you do it to Glocks, and now this. Relax....

What does it hurt to list what I am getting items for? Is it some big secret that all Glocks generally wholesale for $440? Does it matter that some people know what we get guns for? They will either buy it or they won't.

The Calguns crew is not the one coming into your shop to buy items in general. It is the uninformed buyer who is going to take it for your price. Generally the Calgunners buy everything from out of state for a $10 mark up and then have a kitchen table FFL do the transfer in.

If a customer wants to haggle, tell them take it or leave it or give them a deal. This isn't secret squirrel stuff. Hell a look at Shotgun News will just about tell everyone everything they need to know.
