Raddlock removal problem

Hey all, not sure if this should be here or in firearm discussion, but here goes.

I'm trying to remove the Raddlock on my AR. I installed it a few years back with no problem. I used the little o-ring to attain a "no-play" fit. I also tightened the little allen screw at the 6 o'clock.

I'm now having problems getting the inner threaded piece to loosen to allow me to remove the Raddlock. Tried applying CLP, removed the o-ring to give myaelf some room to work with, tried using the supplied tool, and later on, a screwdriver. Now I've got a Raddlock that I apparently can't remove. Any suggestions?

Lick-tit? Cross threaded? Rusted closed?

Only thing I can say is let it sit in some WD40 for a few hours and give it another go. Nothing else you can really do but unscrew it.

The WD40 is a good bet, try it over night. You can also try one of those "Screw extractor bits"
I purchased an AR15 off Calguns a few years ago and found the Radlock had been installed with RED loctite! It was so bad I had use a small bit and drill it out!
But I was able to remove it with no damage to the receiver.

I'm gonna give the wd40 a shot. I may end up going the drill bit route. What part did you drill out? I really like the raddlock design, but next time im sure as hell using some anti-seize or something!

Wd40 is not a lubricant. Soak it in some Ballistol.

The way I did it was a last resort, you have to be really careful and drill strait.
I drilled through the Radlock and straight through the Mag catch exiting out the other side of the receiver. I used a drill bit just slightly smaller than the Mag catch threaded post. Of course it ruins the mag catch, but that is only 10 bucks to replace.

Jday - yeah i know. Pet peeve in the shop is people who treat wd40 like a lubricant. Can be useful for degunking stuck hardware though.

Fighter4cage - never heard of ballistol. Will check it out. Have always used PB Blast.

Deep Creep and PB Blaster are much better penetrating oils than WD-40.

Radlock has never been interesting to me. If I need a free state mag release it takes 60 seconds to install one. Can't wait to hear what you find caused this.

Maybe try a soldering iron right down in that hole to heat expand whatever it is you are trying to loosen - it may crack the threads loose so you can remove it. But if your receiver is polymer or carbon fiber, don't use iron.

And IMO, there is no problem a man can have that lick-tit can't fix

Use PB Blast....it works great in getting stuck screws/bolts to loosen up so that they can be removed.....may have to soak it over-nite!
