Why not avoid all disappointment and buy a Sig P220?

1911s are outstanding shooters. I don't think anyone can argue. And they do absorb recoil better than my M&P 45, Glock 21, and FNX tactical.

If you're comparing recoil and recoil only, the 1911 is softer and smoother (compared to my friend's Kimbers).

However, its the other factors that make Glocks, M&Ps, etc great. These platforms are more reliable with far greater capacity. That's why I own them. They also come in at a lower price tag and require less tuning to get them "just right".

Having said all that, I'm still looking to pick up a nice 1911 when I can afford it. They're just too sweet to shoot.

A full size steel 1911 will most certainly absorb the recoil better. But that said the M&P 45 is not unpleasant to shoot...at least I don't think so. Add an Apex flat faced trigger to it and it is probably as close to a 1911 trigger as any non 1911 trigger can get.

I picked up a M&P Core 9mm and a 45 at the end of last year as part of my last SSE buys. These were my first polymer guns and I must say I've been pleasantly surprised. I didn't think I was going to enjoy shooting them as much as I have. They're great guns at a great value.

I have a lot of 45 caliber pistosl except for a glock 21. I own a Sig p220 tactical, fnx tactical, xd 45, les baer custom carry, Springfield trp operator and 4 m&p 45's. All of my m&p 45's will keep up with my les baer that is guarantee sub 3" at 50 yards.

I do like all types of pistols but I must say ive never had a malfunction in any of my m&p's and they are all very very soft shooters for the perspective caliber. The 1911 is a thing of beauty, the m&p 45 sleeps next to me at night.

It was a good design 104 years ago. But like we dont continue to use the Springfield 1903 or Garand, we need to move on from this fallacy.
Thanks, I can always use a good laugh on a Monday morning.

I see you're in San Diego, how much more capacity do you have in your M&P45?
