Serializing AR Pistol

I'm not sure if this is in the right place so please move if needed.
I am about to start the process of building my own AR Pistol from an 80% blank. I was to serialize it and stamp PISTOL on it just to make it easier if the gun is ever checked by LEO or whatever. My question is how do I find out what exactly needs to be included. Do I just make up a builder name like JF Arms then make up my own serial number? Like JF0001? Also after I get it engraved, do I then need to send a certain form to the atf or doj? I do not intend to ever sell the gun, I just want it serialized in case it is ever confiscated or stolen. My thinking is, if you use a legitimate engraver who knows what he's doing he should be able to recommend to you what's required.

The S/N is whatever you choose, no requirements except if you might want to sell it later on (don't recommend) then the depth of the engravings have to be at a certain depth (per ATF guidelines).

You do not need to register it but if do want to then you would fill out a vol reg. You can download one from the CADOJ website (look under firearms division).

You may receive an unannounced visit from the DOJ to inspect the pistol before they will register it. If you don't want to go through that I recommend putting the caliber as .223 not multi and the model # as AR15 not something else.

Make sure you build it correctly.
