    Driving Nevada to California

On Sunday, we were driving from Tahoe back home to California. Of course the big Reno show was going on. Anyway, there was a California highway patrol car sitting on the state line at Myers.

Oh yeah, when you go to Myers it says "prepare to stop". It also says local and something, something can go through. If you live in California, are you suppose to stop or can you just drive through without stopping?

Anyway, as we were driving through, a Nevada state trooper lit up his light and siren on the car behind me and then did not stop the car and turned around back to Nevada. Is this normal procedure? When I drove in to Nevada nobody seemed to care. It's only when you arrive back in California.

If you're a CA resident with CA license plates you aren't required to stop unless you're bringing back fruit into the state which is a no-no. At least that's how it is near stateline at the CA/NV border.

We didnt have any issues when coming home from the gun show in august. I think its more of a fruit thing, as stated earlier.

I've only seen this when coming back on I-80. Driven to Vegas and back several times and never run into that.

Don't not get caught bringing in all those hi cap mags!

At least disassemble them in to legal kits.

To them, you're just a plain old sappy idiot, and probably a lib'rul who smokes salvia while driving.

On the way back from the gun show last friday I had no problems. IIRC there isn't even a checkpoint going CA->NV just when coming back home.

It's a CA state agriculture inspection station several miles inside the border. And I've always been stopped and questioned even with CA plates. They ask where I came from and if I had any [whatever] in my car.

This year, while returning from hot august nights I was stopped and asked if I was bringing any fruit into the state. There did not seem to be any "nothing to declare" lane.

hmmm, good information to know. Whenever I cross the border they always just wave us through, not that I wanted to get stopped or had anything to hide, I always wondered what would cause you to be stopped.
