    Ordnance definition ... ?

I am non-military, so be nice.

My wife asked me what ordnance was, and I thought it was ammo and mines/explosives.

But Wiki (yeah I know - but they didn't have good references ). Apparently aircraft weapons are also included.

What is ordnance? (Officially) - thanks..

I got the 'expendable sposive' stuff. And I even get missiles/rockets. But is a mini gun ordnance?

Sometimes Google etc has the worst info. But hey - on the interwebz, gotta be true.

The Aviation Ordinanceman rating handles "aviation weapons and ammunition." Pretty much anything that goes bang or boom.

The official definition of ordnance from the official DOD dictionary.

                  ordnance
(DOD) Explosives, chemicals, pyrotechnics, and similar stores, e.g., bombs, guns and ammunition, flares, smoke, or napalm.
                  Source: JP 3-15
"Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook Pegler

Ehhhh kind of, technically I think it would be.

But we would classify that more along the lines of standard material handeling.

But I guess it would be ordnance still being it would go through the same class yard and storage areas as explosive ordnance.

In short...things that go boom and having to do with things that go boom.

Think about mixing automobile (boom) and automotive (things to do with boom).
