    Question regarding private party transfers

I recently completed a PPT at my local gun store and was told that I had to pay the transfer and DROS fee in cash only. This was on a Sunday which was very convenient for me, but I wonder if that practice is legit or even legal. I did call another store afterward and was told that this practice is not legal, but considering the ever changing laws in this state, who knows?
    Thanks
    JG

Their store, their rules on payment.

I don't believe that there was ever a law written that a vendor "must" accept checks or credit cards.

On the other hand paper money says it is "legal tender".

    Maybe inconvenient, but legal.

The ffl s choice. They only make 10 bucks on the transaction why should they give up another $1.22 for cc fees. I don't take credit cards at my place of business.

Thanks, huge well established sporting store (40 yrs) kind of caught me off guard and short on cash. I had to drag the seller back to my place, get more cash from the safe and then get to know each other over a couple cold ones. End result, made a new friend and picking up in 4 days!

Of course you made friends. He now knows you keep cash in your safe, and where the safe lives.

          Sorry, I couldn't resist.
