    First Air-Rifle for my Sons...???

Can anyone lead me to a good first air-rifle for my sons. I want it to be accurate, but not cost an arm & leg. My eldest son is about 56-inches tall. I would like it to be designed for a youth.
    Thanks,
    Sean

Just go to big5 and get a crosman pump air rifle. Usually cost like $100 and can use specialty bbs for shootin birds or cans.

My father bought me my first air rifle when I was 8 years old. I started off with a Benjamin / Sheridan 5mm air rifle. I still have it to this day and it shoots well. It would be the very last thing that I own - it will never be for sale and someday I will teach my son how to shoot with it also.

BTW - that was 32 years ago. I have taken it to the indoor 25 meter range for fun when I go shoot. People look at me funny but oh well. GREAT MEMORIES!!!

My first air rifle was a Crosman 1377. I think they call it the "American Classic" now. My dad paid 55 bucks for it at Western Auto in Bell, California on a Sunday morning in 1990. It had the optional full stock, which could be removed to turn it into a pistol. I think its still at our old house, my uncles live there now.

Yep, I still have mine I purchased at Gemco in 1984. Didn't get the stock though. Still works great.

Come on, no mention of the Red Ryder?

I started out with one and then upgraded to the Crossman 760, even had the brass cocking bolt and rifled barrel.

Barrel-cockers are good air rifles. I still have my Beeman R1.

a red ryder is the only way to go, just because of its old schoolnes.

I wish I still had mine. I have no idea whatever became of it.
