Slick 50 for Gun lube. Anyone else?

At the suggestion of a Calguns member I tried Slick 50 Motor oil for lube on my Maverick 88. Seems to work great! It was gritty and sticky when I got it, but broke in very well. Runs...well...slick. I went with the Diesel variety just because I figured it would deal with carbon better than the gas type.

Who else is using it?

I imagine any pure synthetic would work just as well.Hell of a lot cheaper than gun oil.

My father-in-law swears on Slick 50. He drove his Slick-50 treated car 40-50 miles, with a hole in the oil pan from a rock. Fixed it and added oil, and kept driving his Buick.

Marvel Mystery Oil is a cheaper alternative.

I bought a 16 ounce bottle of Weapon Shield in 2010; I still have some left. I don't see the point of buying automotive oil when there are non-toxic gun oils that cost me $4 a year to use.

That data sheet is for the engine treatment ADDATIVE in pure form. Not the fully synthetic motor oil made by Slick 50. Two different things entirely. It also states that prolonged contact MAY cause contact dermititis. Pretty much any synthetic or petroleum oil, including gun oil, will do the same.

I use frog lube. It's brand new and you can eat it. It's what all navy seals use in combat ops. Especially black ops

If Royal Purple would put half the resources into the product that they do to advertising and product placement in cable enthusiast shows, they'd actually have a good product.

I tested RP along with many other oils in my motorcycle.
RP did not perform any better than non-synthetic, and Castrol GTX actually did a bit better.
