    Weapon mounted light in home

For those who have lights mounted for their home defense gun. What is it for? Can't I just turn on the lights at home to see?

I have mine for outside, or if we lose electricity. But then, I travel with a Surefire flashlight and 4-5 chemlights for the same reason.

Turn on your lights, get a good look at who is breaking in and let us know what they look like.

I have a light mounted on my hd glock 19 the rooms are on the second floor of the house, and from where my room(or any room for that matter) is, the light switch to turn on the lights in the hall is on the opposite side of the hall, and the downstairs lights are all on switches downstairs. I would rather have some sort of light, then be in a situation where an intruder is in the house and I would have to go to the other side of the house to turn on the lights

            In MY house.

If it is dark enough to need a light. The darkness is my cloak of invisibility, and the enemy of my enemy.

If you can turn on lights in a room that you're not inside of yet, then you either have special powers or a smart home setup, but not everyone does.

Solar powered motion detector lights everywhere. Each one has it's own collector panel. I don't need to turn any lights on. The intruder already has. Plus I have veridian green laser lights mounted on my hd firearms.

I only put it to help reduce recoil.

Simple fairness. If there is no light on your weapon telling an assailant where to aim, they would have no way to zero in line of sight on your forehead as you approach.

And obviously, you know your home much better than an intruder, so without lights, you would have an unfair advantage.

I personally use a light because I would like to be certain who I am shooting at while in my home, before I take any shot. People taking shots in the dark seems to lead to alot of family members getting shot.

It is just an available tool after all, no requirement to turn it on unless the situation calls for it.
