The "30 days or less" loan between persons "personally known to each other" is still exempt from the dealer transfer requirement. But now the person being loaned the firearm needs to have a valid Firearms Safety Certificate. If the firearm is a handgun they can still use their unexpired Handgun Safety Certificate.__________________

There is a different three day loan exemption in the penal code. With the three day loan the person being loaned the firearm does not need a Firearms Safety Certificate or Handgun Safety Certificate and they do not need to be "personally known" to the person loaning the firearm, but they have to remain "at all times within the presence" of the person loaning them the firearm.__________________
