Questions about LASIK and shooting.

Had LASIK yesterday.Was wondering if it will have any effect on my scope and sight adjustments on my guns?

Anyone who's had it have to make any changes or adjustments to how you shoot?

It makes everything easier. For me they fixed nearsightedness and astigmatism. I'd imagine your scope's focus may need adjusting.

Give it a couple of weeks for your vision to sharpen and you'll be happy with the result.

I also interested in Lastik and don't have fringe benefits so price is important

You won't need a scope for shooting at 7 yds anymore.

I had Lasik done in 2000. Went from near blind to 20/15. Now I am about 20/30 or a little worse. All my eye doctors were impressed at how minimal my scarring was and how long my vision stayed the same. I had mine done at Pacific Vision Institute in San Francisco where a lot of the pro athletes and eye doctors get it done. I still don't bother with glasses. Well worth it.

Go easy the first month and keep your eyes wet. I would not shoot for a month so they can heal but I am very careful with my eyes. Rifle concussive forces and the powder residue at ranges are not ideal for your eyes. If you think you will be rubbing them don't do that activity and use liquid tears generously.

Was $4600 at Turner Eye Institute.Done in Castro Valley.They recommend lubricating drops for 6 weeks.

I intend to follow instructions to the letter.Already d**n pleased with results.No shooting for a while.Use my spare time to track down more 22LR.

I had Lasik and could not be happier. Give it a few weeks to heal up and you will be good to go. No more hassle with contacts. Shooting is about the same, but I don't worry about getting dust in the contacts or the wind drying the eyes out.

It should be temporary but I have heard a lot of horror stories. My brother went cheap and they blew out a vessel. It was only temporary.

My eyes have always been sensitive. I had to take a few valium just to get in the chair. I had to have someone put the liquid tears in my eyes because I just freak out.

Side effects back then were dry eyes and halo effects around light bulbs. Slight night vision loss also. Maybe the newer technology reduced those issues.

Sorry to hear about your brother so, will keep that in mind. It's good to know that the side effects are temporary. Appreciate it.

Had mine done something like 15+ years ago and have been happy. I went from blind as a bat to not needing glasses.

Keep in mind that Lasik is not a permanent fix as it won't prevent your eyes from aging and your vision will still deteriorate with age. I am 55 now and need reading glasses now.

Best decision I've ever made was getting Lasik. It should not effect/affect your scope or sight adjustments.

I didn't shoot until 10 days after the surgery.
