    Off roster shipping question

First: Can I ship an off roster Ruger .22 to an FFL in California or even out of state for that manner? Second: if so do I have to ship FFL to FFL in state or out of state?

No to in-state, yes to out-of state

Depends on laws of state you ship to

If "YOU" live in CA, how are going to ship an off roster gun to CA. Do you mean have an off roster gun shipped to Ca. from someone else?

If shipping a gun out of state you can ship it to a FFL yourself "if" they agree to it.

I have an off roster gun that I'm selling, but have had no California offers as of yet. So I want to open up shipping on gunbroker or Rugerforums to out of state buyers. Just wondering what my options are. I hate to ship out of Cali but nobody wants it.

If you are referring to the Single Six, it is a single action revolver so it is roster exempt and can be shipped within CA.

When I shipped a handgun to my brother out of state an FFL-FFL transfer was MANDATORY. I believe it's a federal law.

A private party can ship to a FFL but it is up to the receiving FFL if they will acept that type of transfer. Money wise it maybe a even cost for pistols.

I may be wrong on this, and don't have a citation, but I was told, by an FFL this year, that a new 2015 law requires shipments to be FFL to FFL accross state lines.

This question would probably be better addressed in the FFL forum?

There is no federal requirement to use an FFL to ship to an FFL. Some FFL's will only accept a shipment from a FFL, but that is their policy not law.

Yes you can ship off roster to an FFL in CA, it just can't be transferred to a non-exempt person here. No requirement to ship using a dealer although some FFL's require it.

Edit: if the gun in question is a revolver that is single action, it is exempt if it meets the size requirements under single action exemption.

Yes it's a .22 single action revolver. I think it's a six inch barrel. Thanks guys.
