No, because under the law your life is no longer in danger. Carrying the power of life and death on your hip means having to learn a ton of stuff about training, knowledge, and attitude.. It's either that or you end up in jail. Or dead from a nervous cop. To quote someone I know: "What is in your hand is immeasurably less important than what is in your head and in your heart."

No, once he turns his back, he is no longer a threat to you.. as others have said if you do you would land up in jail. And you should never taser someone with a gun..
Look at getting another job, its not worth it.Comment

Not to mention that if you DID have an LTC, your company policy likely prohibits you from carrying otherwise they'd need to have an insurance policy that covers it i.e. you couldn't carry while on the job anyway.Comment

So you would shoot someone in the back? Look brother, I am totally on your side, but remember this is California. If you would have shot or even stabbed him while his back was turned, you would be in a world of *****. You would get arrested, be taken to jail, have to hire a lawyer or even worse get a public defender. Then in court you would have to explain how this person, with his back turned to you, was enough of a threat that you had to use deadly force. Then if you were not found guilty (and that's a big if), either he or his family would sue you and you would probably lose in civil court. It would probably be the biggest pain in your ***** you could possible imagine...does that seem worth $20? Hell give me your address, I'll send you $20.
It's hard to let something like this go, you were a victim, and that blows. Most of us have been there at one time or another. You want revenge, I get that too. Again, I totally understand your feelings here, just trying to show you that you actually came out of this in pretty good shape. Have a beer, spend the night with your girlfriend and realize that you came out OK.Comment

well I seriously thought it some manner it would still be just to shoot but thanks everyone seriously I appreciate the postive comments but for those who don't believe me I can post a picture of the police report card or really I don't care because it happened.Comment

You got lucky, and the company should reimburse you the $20 and be glad that they aren't paying you and your family a huge settlement for on the job injury.
Now, if the robber stole your ID and told you with no uncertainty that they are going to find you later and finish the job if you filed a police report, I'd suggest getting in line for a CCW...Comment

For longer than I care to admit, I delivered pizza. Fortunately I was never robbed, but I was assaulted a few times and therefore had to resort to ... ahem... interesting driving techniques. A childhood friend of mine was robbed and killed while delivering pizza. Various managers to varying degrees would pressure us drivers to take change for $100 bills. Never do it. Never admit to carrying anything more than $20 at a time. OP, if you're really a pizza driver, check out http://tipthepizzaguy.com/Comment

If you got to shoot, best to shoot when u handling over the pizza or ur wallet, if the opportunity arises. Different scenarios different approach. In this case it most likely might not be justifiable to pop the assailant in the back, but that doesn't mean it won't be justified in other scenario. (Not a lawyer, just dropping that in so u don't have d idea that popping assailants in the back is a no no.)

Hearing how you want to shoot a guy in the back for $20...I think you were very lucky that you did NOT have a CCW. You almost got locked up for life.Comment

I don't have a CCW myself and I'm not familiar with laws regarding CCW, but if someone held a gun on me and then turned his back because he was distracted, I would've shot him in the back, multiple times. You know, just to be sure and so I can tell the judge how scared I was and took the opportunity to protect myself.
In any event, if they still hold the gun in their hand, they're considered a threat, no?Comment

You still have the option of carrying a gun illegally, in which case you'll have the option of using any number of smaller, easier to conceal weapons that the same people who've decided to deny you your right to self defense have also decided you can't legally purchase in this state either.Last edited by barrage; 06-23-2015, 5:02 PM.Comment
