When did Hoppe's #9 Formula Change?

I recently bought a bottle of Hoppe's #9 after using other bore solvents for many years. The new #9 smells like kerosene.

The last time I used Hoppe's #9 was in the early 70s and it smelled much different than it does today. It had a very distinctive, almost pleasant smell back then.

When did Hoppe's change the formula and why? Was it due to toxicity or environmental reasons?

I want to say it changed around 2000 or maybe a little before.

The EPA was on them about the Nitrobenzine that was in it being a carcinogen.
"Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook Pegler

I prefer the smell of gasoline from the early 60s than now. Less additives then.

                        15% to 40%
You know, a pinch of this, a dash of that.

^ You can't really blame them for their poor math ability...

they've been sniffing that stuff in their factory for years now.

not me! I kicked my hoppes habit a long time ago.

but I do linger at gas stations, if I "accidentally" spill some gas...on a rag.

                          besides what's wrong with a 135%...

that's like you getting a extra five-eighths more on a two-thirds full bottle.
                          right?
or maybe it's like getting 43% more per bottle...

Well...anyway you look at it its extra.

I mean, the only one who's going to ever even notice that the MSDS math is a "smig" wrong is a captain or better.

That's common core math. Its the new norm now.
