    Cancelling a dros?

I recently bought a pistol from a dealer, but found another pistol deal that i really dont want to pass up. The dealer wont take any lay away cash, or hold the pistol for me. Is it possible for me to cancel my dros? Also will that count as a handgun purchase, and i will have to wait another 30 days. or if i cancel it, can i go purchase the other pistol right away?

I'm pretty sure that if you cancel it you wont have to wait the 30 days before purchasing. The dealer may charge you a restocking fee though and you will not get your DROS fee back so unless its a good price difference it might not be worth your time.

See if the dealer will hold it if you pay the full amount.

ya i know its messed up but my local mom and pops shop is giving me a brand new G20 for $520 out the door. i really cant let that slip by.

Plus i cant pay full amount because they take cash only, and i dont have enough cash for full purchase amount unless i get funds back from original purchase.

Give the dealer the the full $520 and ask them to DROS it after your other DROS expires. You just have to wait a litle longer to pick it up.

Perhaps you can have the dealer cancel the DROS and put the pistol on layaway then pay the rest and restart the DROS after the 30 days on the other pistol are over?

I'm assuming you didn't pick up your DROS'd pistol yet. Did you already pay in full? I'm sure you can back out of it, but expect to be hit with really high restocking fees - I wouldn't be surprised at hundreds. Plus think about the ill will you'll create with that gun shop. This may or may not be important to you. In my experience, 'impossible-to-pass-up-deals' come by every month if you're looking. I'd just enjoy my new gun and wait until the bank account recharges and then start looking for deals on my next.

My opinion is worth what you paid....

They may still have that G20 when your 30 days is up too, 10mm isn't exactly in high demand.

That's actually not as high as some restocking fee's
its mostly to cover the paperwork that was done and might cover any commission the guy who sold it to you got
