In Need Of A Thin Safe

Does anyone know of a good safe that is fairly thin that mounts to a wall? I have found the V-Line safes but that's the only I've found and they aren't DOJ approved. Any other suggestions?

Also, does anyone have any experience with the V-Line safes? Any good? How many rifles can it hold?

    Thanks!

I sell the V-Line safes. The upright wall unit is designed to mount between studs in the wall. Since studs are 16" on center apart and the safes are not very deep, I'd say that you could put 2-3 in for sure. 4 max if they were fairly flat-sided (like lever guns). The V-Line is a good safe even if they aren't on the DOJ-approved list.

How about the ones that do not mount inside the wall (Flush to the wall)? It's not my house so I'd rather not cut a hole in the wall

You know, one might say that kind of info might have been pertinent from the beginning, but what do I know

If you are creative, you can buy a safe with the DOOR you want that is DoJ approved, and have a welder make up a BODY of any dimension to fit the door.

If you REALLY want to drive burglars insane, pick a wall, get TWO safe doors from some place like the Harbor Freight Tools. Weld up a box around the first safe and mount the face of the second safe with the door onto the front. Paint it all nice and pretty. Now bolt the safe to the floor or wall, or both, where it can easily be seen by a burglar.

If someone breaks in, they'll work hard to break the safe open. When they open the door, they'll see ANOTHER safe door just inside! Use the first door to trigger a very loud alarm. Use the second door to secure a post-it note on the back wall that reads, "Sorry. Nothing of value in here. Cops are on their way. Have a nice day."

Store your guns in a broom closet.

Two years ago, my mom settled the estate of a dear old woman who died at 95. There was a safe in the house, but we didn't know where, and didn't know the combination! Her old lawyer fell out of her favor, so she left instructions to "avoid the greedy b***ard completely." Well, we knew she kept gold somewhere in the house, so we called the lawyer and told him he could come over ONLY to show us where the safe was and to try the combination he still had in his records.

He arrived and we quickly realized why she dumped him. He was a complete jerk! He did have a combination which he offered to try ONLY for 10% of the safe's contents. "Otherwise, find the safe yourself and call a locksmith!" He was such a jerk, he wouldn't give us the combination. He wanted to open the safe! So we agreed, and allowed him to crouch down to a floor safe hidden under a (now) built-in bookshelf that needed to be dismantled for access. Inside ... a single piece of paper reading:

"There's no gold in here (rotten lawyer's first name)! Ha Ha Ha."

She really had a funny sense of humor!

These look pretty good... I like how you can build it up yourself especially since I dont know how long I'm going to be living in my current place. Does anyone have experience with these? Are there other brands like this? Are these good/safe? Are they DOJ approved (I didnt see them mention this on their site)?

Safes, as such, need not be on a State Roster. There are standards the safe can meet, posted here.

Now, if a company specifically says their products do not meet standards (as V-Line is emphatic in doing), that's different.

ETA: By the way, were you aware there is a forum dedicated to safes?
