Shipping and selling question

So I'm selling a gun on here, and I'm wondering why shipping is such a big deal? Is it just a big trap for the seller to get screwed? I mean If I take a paypal payment then have my ffl send it to their ffl is that it, or are there som fees that I'm overlooking?

Fees can be quite a bit and the seller will likely pass on any fees to you. Then you have fees from the FFL you pick it up from I believe. It's also just a PITA to some people and they don't want to deal with it.

The roster is probably the biggest reason, followed closely by the fee's charged for the transfer by the receiving dealer. All and all it is probably much easier just to do face to face transactions, then adding in additional fee's at both ends.

Did you think about asking a ffl how much he would charge ?
Is the buyer going to pickup the fees on his end ?

Buyer pays transfer fee to his FFL ($50, $75 etc.).

shipping fees, dealer transfer fees, overnight fees if handgun or dealer handling if you have them do it for you, questions of roster etc.

You didn't get specific about what type of gun, pistol or long gun and what type, so it is hard to give you specific information because the laws are so different for pistols vs long guns.

If you are talking about a pistol, it has to be on roster, and by the time you add in shipping fees and the dealer transfer fee the buyer must pay, it had better be an expensive pistol or it just doesn't pencil out. The chances of you sending me a used Glock 19 and me getting out cheaper than I can buy a new one are slim. And you cannot ship off roster pistols, unless you are selling to LEO who usually can get them cheaper new anyways.

And if we're talking about an expensive piece, the question of how a buyer inspects it before forking over $3k to a stranger is another issue entirely.

One wonders why law enforcement is exempt from this important consumer protection law. You would think LE would need these most important laws regarding the use of safe to use/dangerous to carry firearms.

There are thousands of LE carrying and using these dangerousl and unsafe off roster handguns everyday and I might accidentally get shot when one falls from there holster or hands and strikes the floor causing the firing pin to hit the primer and bang I am dead.

You would think law enforcement would be clammoring for their liberal gun grabbing politician to pass a law to make everyone safe by stopping this most dangerous loophole.......oh for the babies and the childrens sake for all those being killed by dropped handguns carried by LE......

Actually our LE friends are our best resource for off roster as they use this to finance their firearms hobby and we get a small trickle of stuff in.

It is just so boring going to a gun shop and seeing the same GLOCKS, BERETTAS, SPRINGFIELDS and nothing else, no selection or variety.
