I found a deal on a used mill. It has a Leeson speedmaster motor and controller. But it has a nmtb/cat/bt type spindle. I plan to do aluminum paperweights and 1911 kits to start. Will this type spindle be ok ? It also comes with an unmounted servo motor table.

Hi LR777, I'm not familiar with that setup but if you go over to practicalmachinistdotcom they can probably give you all the info you will need to make a decision.
The forum folks will want to know the age of the machine, general condition, and all the accessories that come with it in order to give you helpful advice. They will also want to know what you will be using it for so be prepared to tell them you want to machine firearms, or figure out a good way to say what you want to use if for without mentioning firearms. -
First off, you need to figure out what spindle it actually is. NMTB, CAT and BT are all different things.
That said, if it's heavy duty enough that it's got any one of those, then it should be heavy enough to do 1911's and 80's.
Get some pictures. Is it online? If so, give me a link to look at. PM it if you want, so that other people won't snipe it out from under you. (I've already got my stuff, so I don't need to snag yours up.

What kind of mill is it?NRA Life Member
