You are probably better off buying 4 singles. Check out the Safariland 771 and 773 pouches. If you don't want to spend a ton of money check out the Safariland 775 triple mag pouch ($28 at Midway).

You guys complaining about 4 pistol mags on a belt being too much or too heavy, need to get some quality equipment.

I've ran 4 pistol mags (23 round 9mm mags in the individual BladeTech Pro carriers), 2 Single AR mag carriers, 2 Taccom 6up shotgun shell holders, and a Glock 34 in a BladeTech DOH holster.... often when practicing, but once on a crazy stage . Point being, I'll usually either wear my SOE rigid cobra duty belt or my SOE edc cobra belt (both are 1.5"), because my stuff won't flop around like with a Double Alpha or CR Speed competition belt (at least on me, as ymmv). Plus, I'll wear the same SOE belts with jeans or shorts at IDPA events since they don't allow the double comp belts.

While that is some heavy crap to carry around and hard to run with, I've never had any issues with that much weight on my belts with the Tek-Lok holsters. Get a quality belt that is designed to support & distribute the weight along your waist and carrying 4 mags and a pistol will feel like nothing.

You can get a BladeTech quad mag holder for around $45.

They'll stick out quite a bit on your waist and won't be a comfy when distributing the weight across your weak side with 4 individual mag holsters, but it'll still work if you have a good belt to support the weight.

That one is perfect but not available for the M&P .45 or Shield 9mm.

Well does she need to carry all of them then? Can she leave them on the table or shove 2 into a pocket and then cycle them into the carriers?

Another thought...you could go with two doubles...might put one set a little further back but might be cheaper than the Comptac one. Or one single and one double and one in a back pocket.

              There's also this...but it's not cheap...

I think I read somewhere that the quad FN 45 or Glock 10/45 mag holster will work with M&P double stack .45 mags. You might be able to use a 1911 quad mag holder for the Shield mags.

The mags may be a tight fit, but if you really can't find any thing else that works then you can always make it work with a heatgun or hairdryer and warm up the polymer molding and fit your mags in there. It wouldn't be the first time that's been done.

I carry 4 magazines on my belt at every match, and have an extra one in my pocket that I load into the gun at the start of a shooting stage. It's not rare at all. The special agents I encounter at work carry 2 magazines because they the also carry cuffs, flashlight, and pepper spray, but I wouldn't put it past some of them to carry 4 magazines if they didn't have to carry so much other stuff.

Had the initial post mentioned matches and contests and whatnot, I would have not said anything. But it didn't.
