    Firearms disassembling when fired

Have you ever had or seen a firearm disassemble when fired?

I remember a stainless model come undone when fired. I was a kid and couldn't identify the actual name of the pistol when a relative of mine fired it. In retrospect, I can only guess it was a .380.

Disassembled as the barrel or slide came off after something was broken?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
    (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

The entire slide came off. I saw them shoot it twice (which is one too many by my count). One of those times, it was at dusk and they couldn't find the spring afterwards. So they waited until dawn the next morning to find it.

Makarov safeties are notorious for coming off when worn.

Saw the front sight from a Rossi .38 fly off during the first 3 rounds ever fired through it.

The slide from a Colt Officer's model went down range (didn't happen to me). Tungsten guide rods come out (very brittle). I fired a sawed off 12 double barrel shotgun and the forearm came off.

I once fired a pistol where the projectile became completely dislodged from it's casing and was launched several hundred feet downrange before being embedded in a dirt bank. I searched for hours but never found it, although I discovered that a lot of other shooters seemed to have had similar malfunctions.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

I once saw a Remington 870 shotgun with a weak magazine end cap puke the cap, mag spring and all its unfired shells downrange when the owner racked it on the firing line.

I buffer tube worked loose once. My 7.62x39 AR-47 needed a retorque of the castle nut and a really tight scope mount, the shock is much more than a normal AR with .223 ammo. The buffer tube worked loose even with the castle nut firmly in place.

That's why you stake the castle nut after you torque it and verify function.

I had the magazine drop out of an SKS I had improperly reassembled. No... it was NOT a Tapco! Gotta make sure those little pins engage properly.

Had a front sight fall off a 10/22.

I have several firearms where screws slowly work their way out when fired. I should locktite them but I usually just remember to tighten them before or after use.

I watched a 50 cal barrel get launched out of the receiver after the idiot didnt put it in right. That was pretty funny.
