Colt 91 series pistol

I am in the process of selling and buying some firearms. I would like to buy a Colt 1911 blue 91 series pistol. I am not planing on shooting this pistol but hey who knows how long I can resist that urge. Anyway I am thinking of the 91 series blue fixed sight in 9mm or .38 super to put in the gun safe. I priced them at Colt for just short of 1,000.00 per unit MSRP. Which one would you buy and why? In my tiny mind the .38 super or 9mm would be the best due to the fact that you just don't see a lot of them either one of them. The .45 is a common caliber and I already have a .45 that I shoot a Kimber Custom II.

The 9x23 versions of the series 80 seem to be rising in value quickly if you are looking for something somewhat rare...

Wish I had bought a few when Colt was blowing them out.

Are you in CA? Are these guns on the list? I don't believe any Colt 38 super or 9mm is on list. Or are you exempt somehow? I have a 1991 in 38 super I hang on to it as I have a feeling not many were made though In have the non 1991A1 versions as well.

No I am not in Calif. so I have none of the restrictions on me that others have. No list......unless being on someones chit list matters LOL. I very much doubt if I will move back to Calif. except to be buried at the cemetery where some of my family is buried.

Barring budgetary issues, my answer will always be, get both. Having owned a number of firearms that had caliber swapping capabilities, I found that I was generally annoyed with having to swap things and much preferred just having another gun in the caliber I wanted. YMMV.

I personally would get 38 Super since it just feels so much better shooting that in a 1911 platform then 9mm. But that is just my opinion after shooting them both.
