Be a good representative for all of us gun owners.

Friday, I took the day off and went whitewater kayaking on the Mokelumne river. A gentleman who paddled with us had driven down from Washington and camped in the area. On Thursday he was checking out the river when he came upon 2 young men in full camo, shooting their AR's into the river from above.
Many people use a river, swimmers, sunbathers, hikers, kayakers, rafters, fishermen and gold prospectors. Not only is shooting into any river. lake or reservoir illegal, it's very unsafe. This is one of the behaviors that turns people who are ambivalent about guns against us.
Please keep in mind when you are out there that you represent all gun owners, your actions can paint a negative or positive picture in the eyes of none gun owners. You can say "Screw em, it's my constitutional right" but that really doesn't help our cause. People vote and people contact their elected representatives. Laws change.
Find a good safe back stop and clean up your targets and brass. Be courteous and considerate to other people. Your actions effect all of us.

It's a shame when things like that are going on, and I agree it makes us all look bad.

Other than the lead left in the berms, everything I take in goes out with me.
I bring target stands and steel plates when shooting on BLM land.

Good reminder to always be an ambassador of the 2A.

Same here. I never leave any kind of trash behind when I shoot anywhere, be it real guns, airguns, bows, range, woods, or a friend's back yard. I'd encourage everyone here to do the same, but I have a suspicion that they types who do such things probably don't belong to Calguns or are even real gun/shooting sports enthusiasts.

I'm going to ad my own pet peeve in this direction:
If you have an NRA sticker on your vehicle, try not to drive like a jerk lest you give the impression that all NRA members are asshats.

I know it doesn't make any sense but when I see someone driving like an idiot and they have certain "group" bumperstickers on their car I tend to lump all members of that group into a similar, uncomplimentary, category.
